Contact Friendly and perfect for light sensitive eyes! Jun 03, 2010
By imac20051 I've had the Costa Del Mar Man-o-War 580 Tortoise Green Mirror for about a week now. I wanted to wait to write this review until I've had the chance to use them while driving, riding my bike and just everyday sunglasses.
I bought the Costa's to replace my Maui Jim 405-10 Makaha which broke after about 5 years. I have been a Maui Jim fan for years. I have light sensitive eyes and like the clarity and cripness of the colors from the Maui Jim's. I purchased the 409-10 Kanaha and the Costa's to try them both out.
I read other reviews that stated that the Costa's were uncomfertable and too heavy compared to the Maui Jim's, so I was skeptical, but wanted to try them anyway. I am glad I did!
The Costas are a little heavier than the Maui Jim's, but they make up for it in clarity and even better colors. The side shields are perfect for riding, while they are removable, I dont have a reason to remove them. The glasses are a little larger than the Maui Jim's but nothing that makes them look bad. The Costa's have a glass lense, which you can tell right away helps see clearer. I would still recommend Maui's, however for people with light sensitive eyes that wear contacts, go with these glasses! They look great, feel great and help you see great!
Costa Del Mar Man-O-War's are Great Jul 11, 2011
By DrewHase7 I purchased these glasses after trying on countless pairs of glasses. I went out and tried the 580G in the store, and thought they were just OK.. I decided to order them in the Green Mirror and these really impressed me when using outside. They cut out more glare than any other polarized glass that I used. It seems that i have to constantly wipe them with a cloth, but I assume that is because they are so clear that small smudges are more noticable. They clean up really well though, and don't smudge oils too bad. Really worth every dollar.
They are a little heavy, but fit so well, that i have worn them for 6-8 hours at a time and not gotten any pressure points, or had to take them off but to clean them.
The side shields really do cut out a lot of light.
I hope I never have to use the Costa Warranty, but I LOVE these glasses. Great for seeing deep in freshwater also
Best Sunglasses I've ever had Jun 15, 2011
By Jerimiah James Easley Mind you I'm not a sunglasses aficionado, but I can't stop raving about these. I had prescription lens put in and as one reviewer wrote. The glass lens help you see clearer and crisper, the guards are great and I haven't had need to remove them. I bought them from my local eye doctor's office, but they didn't put the lenses in. They were sent out for custom install, not sure if it was to costa or some third party.
Bottom Line: They are great and I'm glad I bought them.

Terrible Customer Service and Warranty!! Mar 20, 2012
By james Wrong, wrong, wrong!!! Lifetime warranty is a joke!! Customer service is TRASH! Unlike Oakley, Maui Jim and Ray Ban who have REAL customer service! Costa makes good glasses, but take excellent care of them because they will charge you what you paid to fix them! The lens scratches too easily and if the frame cracks/breaks they will not repair without charging big $$$!I will never invest in Costa glasses again!

bad warranty Aug 02, 2010
By diver Their warranty is nothing short of hoops for you to jump through. what they call a temple (the arm) broke on mine 3 times at the same place and they charged me. Even the "warranty proccess fee" of $11. would more then cover 95% of repairs.
