these are awesome glasses Jun 28, 2010
By Bull Moose Bait These sunglasses are hands down the finest polarized fishing sunglasses I've ever used. They are very comfortable for a larger-than-average sized head and the optical quality is fantastic. You can wear these from sunrise to sunset and your eyes don't get tired and they offer great visibility into the water. Construction seems very good and the glass lenses seem durable so far without being heavy. I bought these because my older and more expensive polarized glasses seemed to trap the wind inside of them and direct it back at my eyes resulting in dry and irritated eyes. Basically, if there was even a slight breeze behind me, my eyes would be watering from the wind being directed off the inside of the lenses at my eyes. With these Costa Permits, I don't have any of those problems. they seem to vent perfectly while still offering complete wraparound coverage.
One thing that you may not be able to see in the pictures that I was pleasantly surprised with is the rubber lining on the inside of the frames and earpieces. These help hold the glasses in place on your face, especially when wet from rain or sweat. But, even with this feature, I still need a Chums strap to cinch them to my head so they stay put. I do a lot of musky fishing and spend all day looking down into the water watching for follows. The Chums strap holds them in place nicely.
Watch out for Defects with Costa Sunglasses Feb 04, 2012
By NSB Sport Fan I received a pair of costa sunglasses for Christmas. They were the Permit 580 lenses in matte blk. For spending over $200 they should have been very good glasses. Since receiving them on XMas, the one side fogged up and they felt a bit crooked on my face. I took them back to the store after asking the person who gave them to me where they got them (awkward). The store, Sunglass World confirmed the glasses were not straight which was they were fogging. It is very slight, but a bit annoying when riding a bike or running. The store called Costa as they happen to be a local company about 10 minutes away. Costa would not allow them them to exchange the pair for me and of course they charge a fee for all repair/warranty work. A total scam considering it was defective from the manufacturer. I called and emailed them with no response....customer service is not a priority for them. I paid my fee and shipped off the $200 glasses after less than a month of owning and fewer than 10 times utilizing as they were "off".
Be aware they do not do any warranty or repair for free, it is part of how they make money!! Pay for defects.
My Maui Jims are back to being my workout pair and after 3 years, I have not had any issues with them.
